Idolatry 101

In the world we live in today, we are surrounded by many gadgets that have been orchestrated by the works of the enemy to take our affections and attention off of the Creator and focus on things that don't benefit us in the end no matter how hard we try. We see in the word of GOD in Exodus 20:4 that we are not to make unto ourselves a graven image of anything above or under the earth. His word goes further into saying you shall not bow down to them nor serve them, for HE IS A JEALOUS GOD. When we factor all this information in, today's technology has not only advanced, but it's just as wicked as bowing to graven images or statues. You have Tv, Facebook, Instagram, snapchat, money, careers, men, women, family, sports the list goes on and on. We have gotten so caught up, to where the first thing you check in the morning is your phone, rather than thank GOD for waking you up. GOD does not take this lightly. In fact, HE'S hurt that the world has chosen so many different things to latch on and share that affection that is so due to HIM. This is why there is so much chaos in the world today. Viruses, catastrophic weather, bloodshed on the rise along with other horrible events happening right before our eyes. This is what happens when you put the world before THE MOST HIGH. How have we gotten this far away from GOD? where did the disconnect take place? The enemy has never given up his desire to be like the MOST HIGH, therefore he will use GOD'S very creation to carry out his wicked will. Of course he could NEVER be like THE MOST HIGH, but he will lie, steal and kill trying to use others to do it. We should be far ahead of the enemy. We must ask GOD to show us the very things that have taken HIS place in our hearts and repent. Here is a helpful prayer if you cannot find the words.

HEAVENLY FATHER I come to you humbly in the mighty name of JESUS CHRIST to confess my sin of idolatry. LORD I do know and believe all your word that says you are a jealous GOD who will not share your glory with no other. My LORD you don't deserve to! Please reveal to me the idols in my life and help me to abandon the things in my life that has taken your place. I choose you to be GOD of my life. The blessings you have given me are for your glory and your pleasure because you delight in me. Help me LORD not to obsess with material things, but to obsess with what you have done on Calvary's hill, that I might be saved and set free from sin. Please forgive me. Please help me to put you first at all costs. You are the love of my life. I honor you and I thank you for this grand opportunity to repent, confess and humbly ask for your forgiveness. In JESUS name i pray.
